Sunday Night's Yellowcard show at Luna Park’s Big Top was the debut Sydney show for Brisbane band Avalon Drive, and one that won't be forgotten in a hurry.
The response to Avalon Drive was so great that the 3000 strong crowd at Sydney's Luna Park Big Top broke the crowd barrier forcing the band to cut short their set and for Houston Calls to cancel their part of the show.
Yellowcard frontman, Ryan Key, was forced to appear on stage to calm the crowd down telling fans that "you rocked out so hard for the opening band you broke the barrier".
Post show, fans have been going crazy for Avalon Drive with the band’s website and myspace page being inundated with comments and emails: ”Just lettin u know man u guys were awesome for the one and a half songs u were there for haha.“
“I was at Yellowcard last night and i just want to say that u guys were AWESOME!!! We didn’t stay for the whole yellowcard set cause we were all rocked out by you guys!!!”
“Its good to see Sydney clicking onto the phenomenon that is AVALON DRIVE!!!”
“Go you with the barrier breaking at Yellowcard.” “i just wanted to say sorry for breaking the barrier!! yous were awsome!” “We can't help it if our love for you causes us to break barricades to get to you.”
“you guys rocked, i guess a bit to much! no thanks to us breaking the barricade!”
“avalon drive the one song a set sensation!”
Avalon Drive have now been confirmed to be the only support for Houston Calls (USA), the band's only Sydney show to be held this Tuesday night March 21st at 8pm at the Gaelic Theatre. This is an 18+ show and tickets are on sale now for $15.
