Posted on Monday, September 15 2008
“The View From Afar” is the brand new EP from indie pop rockers Avalon Drive, and it will be released on 4 October 2008.

Fresh from a successful two months of gigs across four states, the EP release caps off a highly successful year for the Brisbane 4 piece so far, which saw them also being crowned the winners of the second Tooheys Extra Dry uncharTED competition.

“It’s been stressful, hectic and amazing,” guitarist Shane O’Keeffe describes the writing process. “It’s definitely a more mature sound than what has been heard from previous Avalon Drive.” Adds singer Damion Page, “We have really put our hearts into this EP and couldn't be prouder.”

“The View From Afar” was recorded with Matt Bartlem (The Butterfly Effect) and mixed by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Mammal). The first single from the EP is the infectious ‘Last One Standing’, which hits radio on the 20th of September, and a pre-order campaign commences Saturday, September 20 where fans to order the EP through JB HiFi (instore or online) will receive a signed copy upon release.

Prior to taking out uncharTED, Avalon Drive spent much of their career on the road, touring with bands including INXS, The Veronicas, Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, Yellowcard and Matchbook Romance. They also did a stint as ROVE’s houseband in 2006!
