Avalon Drive, who have spent the past eight months writing and recording their debut album, has signed a recording deal with SonyBMG Australia.
The signing comes after the band had been selected by media panelist, MTV Talent/Artist Relations Manager, Colin Blake for the national uncharTED competition.
“This band is a polished act that has an appealing punk poppy sound that deserves to be heard by audiences world wide,” Blake said of the band.
“When you listen to the song you instantly think to yourself that this is a band you want to see live,” he continues.
And SonyBMG A&R Manager, Courtney Hard re-affirmed that after an MTV Filming in Sydney last week. "[It’s] very high energy... you would think there were a million people watching," she said.
“They deserve to break into the international scene as their song writing and musical talents can stand up to any band in this fun, high energy end of rock music,” adds Colin.
Frontman, Damion Page said of the signing, “We have always had a great team behind Avalon Drive and this only strengthens that support”.
“They show huge potential and we at SONY BMG look forward to working with them," says Courtney.
The last few months have seen the band shacked up at a Gold Coast studio writing and recording with producer Matt Bartlem.
“It’s been stressful, hectic and amazing,” guitarist Shane O’Keeffe describes the writing process. “We have really put our hearts into this album and couldn't be prouder,” adds Damion.
“It will definitely a more mature sound than what has been heard from previous Avalon Drive,” says O’Keeffe.
Avalon Drive will release the first single from the forthcoming album mid-year. |
