Brisbane five-piece, The Bloodpoets, have been confirmed to support THE PANICS for the third round of the JD Set tour which kicks off on September 23 in Melbourne.
The Bloodpoets will play The Esplanade Hotel (Espy) (Melbourne VIC) on September 23, The Capitol Theatre (Perth WA) on September 24 and The Esplanade Hotel (Busselton WA) on September 25 with all shows FREE ENTRY!
The Bloodpoets involvement in the JD Set follows on from the legacy of 2008’s successful inaugural series which included bands such as Angelas Dish, Braindead Lovers, Borne, Calling All Cars, Casual Projects, Calerway, Galleon, and the Lazys and more recently in 2009 with Glass Ceiling, Starting Sunday, Brittle and The Shiny Brights. This news comes after a hectic couple of months for The Bloodpoets having just unleashed their debut single ‘Borderline’ and only this week announced national tour dates for October in support of the band’s debut album ‘Polarity’ which is in stores October 9.
“The song [Borderline] is about borderline emotional problems,” says Tom of the single. “People trying to cope with feeling different because of things they can’t change (i.e. personality disorders – obsessive, compulsives, etc)”. “The fight back element is really translatable to anybody who is feeling any sort of repression/suppression; so the song is about getting aggressive about the situation and changing it immediately for the better”.
Rave Magazine recently reviewed 'Polarity' calling it "a largely upbeat record with angsty teenager lyrics ably tempered by catchy guitar melodies. The record’s strengths are evident right away in the rumbling bass and sinister beatpop of Just In Time and the superb Borderline. The Bloodpoets try their hand at a few musical styles on this accomplished, enjoyable record while keeping their solid pop sensibility intact throughout".
