Front Counter to walk the red carpet at the ARIA Music Awards! Posted on Wednesday, October 8 2008 Front Counter, fresh from their 13 date tour through August/September to launch their debut EP titled ‘A Toast To You and Me’, will be walking the red carpet at the 2008 ARIA Music Awards in Sydney on October 19. The band will rub shoulders with the who’s who of the Australian music including Gabrielle Cilmi, The Living End, The Getaway Plan, British India and more. Melbourne five-piece, Front Counter, return with the EP’s second single ‘Take Me Away’ which has hit radio this month and will embark on a whirlwind tour of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne before the year’s out. “The song is about, wanting to get out of everything,” explains Rhys Thompson (Guitar/Vocals). “After a while, it sometimes starts to seem as though you haven't actually been able to take a breath for a long time.” “We wrote the lyrics when we were in the middle of a very stressful and hectic period. We had just had a lineup change, so we were desperately trying to get our stuff sorted for upcoming gigs, whilst trying to write new songs, organise studio time, as well as each of us having to juggle our own work and relationship commitments. There are only seven days in a week, and it can sometimes get a bit much.” “For me, the song was also written just after I had finished uni. I moved from doing a few hours of uni and a few hours of work a week, to spending pretty much my whole week either working my job or playing with the band. So I guess that amount of commitment freaked me out, and sometimes all you want to do is get away.” ‘A Toast To You and Me’ was recorded in 2007 with accredited music producer Richard Stolz (Behind Crimson Eyes, Bodyjar, After The Fall) and Lindsay Gravina (Magic Dirt, Shihad, Faker, Jet, The Living End).
